Is Anyone Out There??
I do wonder if I'll ever be rescued. This continued penguin-napping and tossing about the countryside is just no good. I miss my Telly!!
My little buddies tell me that there may be a custom-made scarf in my future. I hardly see the need. Still, it is nice to be fussed over just a bit.
Still, I want to go home! I miss my Mum Duck!

I Heard Rumors...
Where am I?? Some months ago I was encased in bubble wrap and put in a box, then everything went dark. I heard voices speaking about a cousin and Colifarnia or somesuch and then it's bumpity bumpity and loud noises and extremes of heat and more bumpity bumpity. Ugh! Then all goes still and quiet and suddenly I hear voices and a ripping noise and a blinding light. Am I in Heaven, says I?? Then I'm laughed over and carried about by utter strangers. Not heaven, No. The indignities!!
I was sitting, perfectly happy, on a mantelpiece for a while, proud as punch. Able to survey all that occurred, and particularly to keep my eye on that nasty black feline who seems much loved but strikes me as an utter terror. He found that mantelpiece and sniffed me and unceremoniously batted me to the floor! I declare!
So then I was stuffed -- stuffed I tell you -- into a wee cavern surrounded by some sort of knobby things that get adjusted from time to time and played with by The People. The knobby things are cold and metallic and not at all sociable. However, at least I'm safe from the black feline.
Things got a bit better a couple of weeks ago because there was much bustling about the house and pretty, shiny things were displayed on the mantle (which I can still see from my wee cavern), and then -- surprise of surprises -- two little buddies joined me!! They are wearing cute scarves and hats, which strike me as entirely unnecessary in this climate -- I haven't even heard any reports of snow!! -- but they are chummy and friendly, and they cozied right up to me, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. I will try to post a picture of my little friends if I can figure out this blasted new technology. You should have seen the time I had figuring out how to blog from one of their computers!!
More anon. I think I might winter here if my friends stick around. They're jolly good company after all these lonely months!

I have overheard the grandson talk about his cousin. I believe his name is Liam. I am not sure, however i found where he lives. I am officially moving out!

A Spot of Rest
This is quite relaxing, quite possibly the best part of this house. That is, of course, excluding the tele.

I've Gone Mad!
I must have gone mad somewhere along the line. The other option, of course, is that no one around here can cook! I am no longer just miffed, I am peeved! I hope at least one of them learns to cook as does the Old Lady. Let us only hope it does not grow worse. I try to carry on, but the tea shortage is so tiresome! I may be leaving soon if this goes unchecked!

Mockeries!
I believe the son-in-law has taken a liking to my style. I'm sorry I haven't been able to do any posts today before this, the grandson has taken a liking to the computer. Hope to post soon!

Rabbit Rabbit
That's all I heard today! I see no rabbits! I do not understand why they are mentioning them! Is it some sort of obsession? Are they considering purchasing one? I don't understand humans sometimes. Rather, I don't understand humans most of the time! Well, I'm off. Ta-ta!

I'm confused.
The granddaughter left exactly a week and one day ago and has not yet returned. I am not sure if this is a normal occurrence or not; however, no one else in the household seems to pay much mind. I think they must have noticed her absence by now; she always was a talker and there's a distinct change in the atmosphere. I shall assume this is not something to get my feathers ruffled about. However, I am a little disconcerted.

Sudden Change!
The grandson has been gone all day. I wonder if this is the change they refer to as the "school-year." Perhaps he is learning to take the son-in-law's place.

My Title
Today, I shall explain how I got here.
I heard of a creation called the "Underground Railroad." I hear it is a place that helped runaways. I wonder if it is somewhat like the subway.
Well, I figured that since I was a runaway, and I wanted to keep the others at home informed, calling myself the "Underground Arctic" might help me along the way.
To those of you still in the house that smells of cleaning products -- I promise, I am looking for work. I will get you out as I can. Carry on, chums!

Conversation
The humans keep speaking of an upcoming change. It seems the entire schedule will be abrubtly re-aligned in roughly a week. I will keep you posted as soon as I am aware.

Take Two
I'm beginning to understand how the humans use this body of water. The purpose is recreation, not survival. I think I could get used to this.

A Moment's Rest!
The family seems to have disappeared for a few hours. I don't know where they went, but they dressed up and left me alone in the house for a long period of time. I will take this opportunity to explain the situation in which I find myself.
That Old Woman obtained me when I was only a few months old and I have lived on or near her tele ever since. Her and her friends have put me through a lot! I've been kidnapped and packed in boxes and had my beak puffed up to look like I was a snoody little brat countless times! Besides, I'm allergic to all the cleaning products she uses.
And this is how I got to where I am currently.

As time went on, she obtained more and more of my kind. At least, most of them were my kind. Some were bizarre mockeries. Those were hard and shiny and sometimes she would stick things in them. We began to form a coalition -- the Party for Penguin Independence. I became the official spokesperson. And so when the opportunity came to escape and attempt to find help in the outside world, I took it!

Son-in-Law
The son-in-law has left every day at eight in the morning for the past four days. However, today I observed a slight variance. He woke earlier but has remained here all day. I shall consult again with the furry pair. I wonder if there is a reason. I'll write back soon, but for now, goodbye!

Furry Pair
I finally introduced myself to the furry pair this morning during one of their conferences to ask about the famine. It seems they are -- what do they call it, household pets? -- and the family feeds them daily! It must be such a jolly good life. They are quite content; I think my mind might bubble over in boredom. They are quite a devious pair, though. One seems a little off key throughout conversation. I do hope she's alright. We got along quite well though. Well, ta-ta for now!

Escaped!
I hid in the grandson's bag, and finally, after 35 years, I escaped! I'll send money when I can. I've got to go; they're watching.
